She has a degree in Biological Engineering (1996) from the University of Minho, a MSc in Quality Control (2001) from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto and a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering (2007) from the University of Minho. She has been teaching at Polytechnic Higher Education since 1998 and, since 2022, is Coordinator Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (DEQB) at the Coimbra Institute of Engineering (ISEC) – Polytechnic University of Coimbra (IPC). She is a researcher at the Center for Natural Resources, Environment and Society (CERNAS), being part of Food Science and Engineering Research Group. The main current research activities include the area of Food Quality Control and Food Safety, with special emphasis on the implementation and validation of electrochemical sensors (electronic tongues) in the classification of different food matrices and advanced monitoring and bioprocess control.
