Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi is a distinguished microbiologist and academic leader with over 40 years of experience in teaching, research, and higher education administration. She has held several senior positions, including Meritorious Professor (Grade 22) at the University of Karachi, Chairperson of the Department of Microbiology, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Acting Vice-Chancellor. She also served as Rector/Vice Chancellor of Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education and Member (Animal Sciences Division) at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council. Dr. Kazmi earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Maryland, USA, and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. She has supervised over 90 graduate students and published more than 100 research papers. An internationally recognized scientist, she has received awards from the American Society for Microbiology and actively promotes biosafety, food safety, and public health through national and international collaborations.
